Vietnam Veterans Memorial Transgender Veterans March to the Wall

Lobby Days 2004 are now a part of history

NTAC Lobby Days were held in Washington, DC on April 29 and 30, 2004.

NTAC Lobbyists

Lobbyists gather in front of the capitol building before asking Congress to protect transgender rights and lives.

Preliminary results show that at least 15 senators and 50 congressmen or their staff members met with NTAC Lobby Days participants concerning the need to include 'gender identity or expression' in Employment Nondiscrimination and Hate Crimes legislation.

Our reception ranged from warm to enthusisatic, with many from both sides of the aisle agreeing that these laws are needed and should include protection for the transgender community.

More details will be provided once results of individual meetings are analyzed and tabulated.

Take Action! Defeat the Federal Marriage Amendment. Freedom to Marry

A discriminatory Federal Marriage Amendment (FMA) bill has been introduced in both chambers of Congress. President Bush has endorsed the need for such an amendment. In addition to denying states the right to determine civil marriage and civil union laws, the FMA would effectively repeal most, if not all, civil rights protections currently afforded same-sex couples and their families by some state and local jurisdictions. This discrimination would affect not only American gay and lesbian couples but, also, intersex and transsexuals whose marriages would not be legally recognized as being between one man and one woman.

Use the Congressional look-up feature in the next column. Then write or call your Representative and Senators today and urge them to defeat the Federal Marriage Amendment. ******** Read the NTAC Federal Marriage Amendment Article (1.2 mb pdf)

about ntac

NTAC works for the advancement of understanding and the attainment of full civil rights for all transgendered, intersexed and gender variant people in every aspect of society and actively opposes discriminatory acts by all means legally available.

Believing that no person is more equal than another, is more entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, is more worthy of love or respect, NTAC works to achieve equality for all transgendered people.

We are here to provide a voice.

We envision a time when ALL people are treated equally under the law. When marriage, family, career protection, medical care, and housing are no longer reserved for the privileged few, but are basic inalienable rights for all people, regardless of gender identity or expression.

Add your voice.

We will not let another day go by without our voices calling out the injustices. Nor will we allow another blind eye to be turned in our direction.

Dissipate the darkness.

The time is now, and we must act. We must oppose injustice and discrimination wherever they are found. Without these acts, there will always be some who... are more equal than others.
